The Celebration of Life for Chief Boyd
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is saddened to announce the on duty passing of Battalion Chief Jerome Boyd.
Battalion Chief Boyd, 55, suffered a medical emergency on the morning of Friday, April 28, while driving near Downtown. He was transported to a local hospital by LAFD rescue ambulance and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
He was a 30 and a half year veteran of the LAFD and was assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau’s Public Safety Section at the time of his death.
“I join the men and women of the LAFD in mourning Chief Boyd’s sudden passing,” said LAFD Chief Ralph Terrazas. “It is always an unexpected tragedy to lose one of our own and my thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”
