Dwight Sankey started his career with Los Angeles Fire Department in 2005. During his tenure as
member of the Los Angeles Fire Department he has served the Downtown, Mid City, Harbor, and Valley
areas, which encompass all four Bureaus. He has promoted from the rank of Firefighter to Fire Inspector
and is currently assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureaus Brush Clearance Unit. Dwight is an active
member of the Los Angeles Fire Department Recruitment and Green Cell Cadres. As committed
member of the Los Angeles Stentorians, he volunteers in the Entry Level Interview Preparation Program.
Dwight’s aim is to share the proud history and the opportunities made possible through the sacrifices
made by the African American men and women of the Fire Service.

He is married to his lovely wife Desiree and they have two sons. He has a brother Daniel Sankey, who is
also an active member of the Los Angeles Fire Department. He is an avid hunter, fisherman, and shares
his love of the plumbing trade by mentoring youth who are interested in the craft.
