Admissions                                     Admission is free for individual visitors. There is a fee for Group Visits.

*To help defray the cost, there may be a fee for some special exhibitions or events.

Young Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Gallery Photography Policy
Still photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use only in the Museum's galleries devoted to the permanent collection. Photographs cannot be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever. Photography is not permitted in special exhibitions or areas designated as "No Photography"; historical pieces on loan from private collections or other institutions may not be photographed. The use of a flash is prohibited. Movie and video cameras are prohibited. Tripods are allowed on weekdays only.

For press and other special photography, including filming and videotape projects, call the Museum 213.744.1730 during business hours or fax 213.744.1731.

The Museum reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold and/or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises or to reproduce photographs of objects in its collection.

Captain Carl Alexander is the first and only African American Firefighter with the Arcadia Fire Department.  He is the founding President of the United Firefighters of Southern California.  This new Black firefighter organization is comprised of representatives of the Compton, Burbank, Pasadena, Long Beach, Arcadia, Torrance and Glendale Fire Departments

It was a chilly 52 degrees outside when more than 100 people showed up at the Consolidated Realty Board of Los Angeles at 8 a.m. for Our Authors Study Club’s annual Black History Bus Tour, a nearly six-hour tour of the historic houses of Sugar Hill, once owned by affluent African-Americans in the early 20th century, and historic points of interest along La Plaza downtown, Leimert Park and Central Avenue.
